Blackstar Bulletin: Microsoft Inspire 2022

Blackstar Solutions

This Blackstar Bulletin is about the Microsoft Inspire 2022 event that occurred virtually this month.

If it isn’t 40-degree heatwaves, it’s train strikes. With the never-ending deterrents holding us back from returning to the office, many still make the most of living in the not-so-new hybrid working world.

However, when it comes to virtual collaboration, we are still looking to fill many voids left by not seeing our colleagues face to face every day.

If the Metaverse previously announced by Microsoft wasn’t your cup of tea, then take a look at some of the new Microsoft features summarised below.

COLLABORATION

Collaborative Annotations
Draw, type, and react on top of content shared in a meeting using the toolset of Microsoft Whiteboard. Read more here.

Excel Live
You can now collaborate by working simultaneously on Excel workbooks in meetings with your colleagues.

COMMUNICATION

Cameras
Our partners Poly and EPOS devices are now Microsoft certified.

We stock the full range of video conferencing units, contact us for more information.

Shared Channels
The new shared channels on Teams will allow you to collaborate with people outside of your organisation.

This update allows you to chat, meet and share files.

CHAT

Video clip
Video clip is like marmite in our opinion – if you’re not a fan of voice notes on your phone, you most likely won’t like this update.

Chat to self
A self explanatory yet helpful feature to send yourself reminders, or prepare a message to someone without the risk of pressing send too early.

TEAMS PHONE

Microsoft predicted that Cloud-based calling will overtake on-premises calling by 2026.

If you would like to have the ability to make and receive phone calls in Microsoft Teams contact us.

Have a watch of the first 10 minutes of this video for a quick recap of the event, carry on watching if you’re interested in hearing their opinions of the event.
