What is the difference between Operator Connect, Direct Routing and Calling Plans

The main difference between the three solutions is the level of control and customisation they offer.

Both Operator Connect and Direct Routing enable businesses to make and receive PSTN calls within Microsoft Teams. Operator Connect guarantees Quality of Service and all number management is done in one place within the Teams Admin Centre. 

Direct Routing allows for more flexibility, control over voice traffic and is highly customisable.

Calling Plans are a simple way for businesses to purchase phone numbers and minutes for use with Teams. You don’t need to connect your own telephone systems, however this can be a more expensive option.

Yes, your organisation will need a Microsoft 365 or Office 365 license, including Teams as well as a Microsoft Phone System add-on (included in the E5 license) 

Yes, we’ve partnered with fully certified call recording companies to provide compliant call recording with Operator Connect.
